Día de Muertos

So... I am mexican, of course I was going to put something about the Día de Muertos (but of course)
This Ofrenda was set up at grandma's , and the only people I know are my granddad, and my sister. She died when she was like 21 or something. His boyfriend was driving, and we suspect he was high. They got a little baby girl who apparently crashed through the car window and got tangled on the branches of a tree. She remained there for quite some time, until people came and see what had happened. The boyfriend is alive and well, but he never got to see his daughter again.

The little baby girl is now a señorita that is going to be, pretty soon, 15 years old. She's living with my folks, and she keeps on producing lots of troubles for them: she likes to tell lies, and she might be a kleptomaniac, and you know... my mother was the most affected of such tragic event. At that moment, I was really angry at her, how could you die like that? Youngster dies in a car accident... such a cliche man, but it happens... all the fucking time

Anyway, that is not what  I wanted to write about. The thing is that a year ago, we were watching Coco from Pixar... and, Coco is specially designed to fuck mexicans up, it is also a reminder of your traditions, I did cry like a little  bitch at the end. Speaking of bitching... I was bitching last post about Disney, but I recently saw a great cartoon:

Really cool to see them retaking their old, and great concepts, and the story is really cool, go check it out, it's on netflix.

As I was saying before I got interrupted by myself... What Pixar is telling us, is that you need to remember your dead ones, remember of what they liked, remembering is nice. Putting a picture of them, and the whole story is a really nice one: from the 2nd through the 4th of November, we believe that the doors between this realm, and the Inframundo (the place of the dead) can let the dead ones to pass trough. The dead ones are attracted to the Cempazuchitl/Zempoal = twenty and xochitl  = flower, which is a nice pretty flower that for some reason you can see it everywhere around these dates. And the Ofrenda consists on the things that your familiars used to love. We also add a glass of water, and some pan de muertos (bread with lots of sugar on top), and we also put some salt (this is to tell the dead bad guys to fuck off)

And of course we also got the Halloween present, because of our direct contact with our gringo vecinos. My kids are still too little to enjoy some pumpkin carving, but I have always loved to do some, and the story behind it (it was conceived to fend off evil entities as well, and this from another region in the world, and around the same dates, coincidence?)
The dressing up on Halloween is every children wet dream, I used to love it a lot, and I was also going to tell you, invisible guys, about the muertos, and the time when they climb on top of you, but I will be leaving that for next post, because I want to combine it with another drawing... which is important in my book (the ghoooost peopleeeeee)... Will see you guys around.

I am starting a blog today... Somehow, I think that it will help me out with my book selling (which is at zero right now) This is the book I got from Amazon, it is a "proof" book. I was so happy when I first got it, and then as always, you start checking the little details. In this case, the margin is not properly cut, and it did have some minor details on my behalf, e.g. I did have two repeated 21 chapters, and many little inconsistencies everywhere. My father told me that it was ok, the most important thing was the contents, and yes, part of me agree with him, while the fascist part of me: the one that wishes to end all of humanity in a hellish ocean of fire, tells me that the devil is in the details. Both are right. So last night, I was correcting all these stupid minor details, that and at the same time I was fighting with my computer software. Let me explain: I love Microsoft Word, I grew working with the stupid program, it was the only option back then, r...

Your Mexican telenovela

Last week we went to help our maid , domestic worker. Her name is María. Mexican poor people are the same height as hobbits, they are not dwarves, and I'm not trying to be funny here, it's actually pretty depressing. They should be the same height as other people, but they have genetics and malnutrition as well. I remember that some decades ago, everybody was always drinking home made "fruit" water. e.g. Lime water (in Mexico, we call them Limones, but the gringos say that those are limes), Jamaica water (Jamaica is a flower), Horchata (which is made of rice), and Tamarindo (an acidic sweet bulbous fruit), and it was beautiful, and into this paradise came Coca-Cola, with all its production and factories... another conquerer to fuck us over. My parents are really nice with the people that does domestic work, and they also try to help poor people. I guess they have been like this to teach us to always be humble to whoever lack stuff. Doña Mary lives on...

The real Narco Mexico

These are some of the different classes of Saurians . The Trackers have enhanced senses of smelling, hearing, and seeing. They are widely used in Saurian patrols to pursue or locate their enemies.  Changelings can "transform" into their enemies (provided, these don't have great smelling senses, or magical traps). Changelings are used as infiltrators; their job is to sow panic and chaos behind enemy ranks. Fighters or Soldiers tend to be shorter, bulkier, but stronger. They can't move swiftly as the previous classes, instead, they are fighting masters, and are the most resilient of them. They are an important faction in my book: Magika Scientifica B1: Tainted Sun   As you can see, I did use some delimiting line to mark them... it is really hard to just drop that thin black line... so... mea culpa, mea culpa. By the way! Happy holidays and etcetera . The real great thing about these holidays is that the family gets together, and you can infect ot...
